Home Sick

Nice way to start the new year… I caught a cold somewhere in the middle of last week and it is beating the crap out of me.  I write this as I lie in bed… desperately hoping I'll be well enough to work tomorrow.  I'll tell you one thing, if you are home sick, do *not* watch daytime television.  That will just make you sicker…

I'm watching the “Action” channel on my broadband cable subscription.  I have never seen such a relentless stream of shitty movies.  First up was Hollywood Homicide a schlocky sorta-comedy which blew serious chunks, proving that even a great talent like Harrison Ford can't save a steaming turd of a movie.

After that it was Air Rage… what a dog.  Take the worst cliches from every air disaster/terrorist flick you can think of, ball them up in one wad, and you've got Air Rage.  The only upside to this movie is that it starred Kim Oja… whom as you all know, I have a soft spot for.  It's a testament to just how bad this film is that the absolute highpoint of the movie is watching Kim Oja unbutton her blouse.

They keep telling me that tonight their feature presentation will be Starship Troopers 2, the abyssmal bomb of a sequel to the original starship troopers featuring a lot of stock footage, terrible dialog, and Kelly Carlson of Nip/Tuck fame, naked.  If you liked Starship Troopers, I strongly recommend you miss ST2… you'll be disappointed, I guarantee it.

On right now is The Offence starring Sean Connery.  In this British drama circa 1973, Connery plays a detective who loses it during an interrogation and beats a suspected child molester to death.  This sounds like it actually might be a good film, but my wife and kid will be home soon, and they'll probably be visiting with me up here, so I don't think I'll be able to watch it.  Flipping over to G4/Tech TV.

Yeah this is better.  Arena is on right now and I'm watching other people play Unreal Tournament and MechAssault CTF.  Wish I could play myself… but the head portion of this cold is making me so freaking dizzy I can barely see straight.

Which brings me to this point.  I've got to stop typing now.  Head's spinning.  TTYL.

Followup: The next show appears to be a retrospective and bio of the guy who invented The Sims.  It's really interesting.  If you have TechTV, flip it on.

  1. Nah, I bet he was referring to Screaming Lord Byron.
You get five points if you can say what the significance of that reference is before you actually click the link. Here's a hint: when you click the link, there will be some audio.
