On the way back from Snow Falls we stopped in at a wonderful antique bookstore called “Shoestring Books” at 497 Upper Main Street in Norway, ME.
I've spotted this store on many trips through Maine, but either it has been closed or I've been unable to stop for one reason or another.
The place has a lot of quirky personality and is definitely worth a visit if you are ever in the area and love old books as I do. A sign on the door proclaims the hours as Thu-Mon 10-5, Tue & Wed by Appt or Chance. Today was a Wednesday, but chance was with us. ![]()
We mostly got books for Lynnea, a hardbound collection of Aesop's Fables, a children's book of Native American stories, a book on minerals, a hardbound copy of Make Way for Ducklings and a number of other wonderful texts. For myself I selected an ancient book on the life of Abraham Lincoln, and a circa 1950's collection of horror stories.
