Sun's Out!

The sun is out, the snow has stopped, the driveway is clear, the Chuck is beat.  Took about 2.5 hours to clear it all, not too bad really.  I'm sure that the plows have probably since filled in the end of my drivway again, but I'm not going to worry about that right now…

In the morning I called my Mom and Dad to see if they needed any help digging out.  They said they were fine but it sounds like they got much more snow than I did.  After that I cleared the back porch and let the dogs out for their morning romp.

With the coming of daytime I got some better pictures of the effects of the storm.  These have been added to the They're Calling It A Blizzard photo album, along with some interesting false color images of frost crystals and some shots of Cassie and Tina romping in the snow.

By the time the snowbank at the end of the drive was cleared, I was exhausted, but I decided to do the front walk.  So I hauled the blower down the street to the walkway and cleared the plow leavings there and the snow up to the steps.  I realized I wouldn't be able to get the blower up the steps until they were cleared so I left it there and went all the way back up to my barn to get a shovel.

When I returned with the shovel and reached for the blower to move it out of the way, it suddenly ran out of gas and died.  The gascan was in the barn. Greeaaaaaaaat.

So I just did the whole walk with the shovel, and then grabbed the mail while I was out there.  I was happy to see on my way back to the barn that the birds had discovered our recently refilled birdfeeder.

When I got back in my lovely wife surprised me with a carafe of hot cocoa (thanks love), and then I peeled off the wet stuff and tossed it in the dryer, shambled into the study, and collapsed into this very chair.

Later Pat brought me a delicious breakfast of bacon, eggs, pancakes, and toast.  Delicious!  I'm a lucky guy!

Well I'm completely zonked at this point, and I need to get some rest (I keep nodding off here.)  Hope everybody made it through the storm okay!

FLOOMP!

Tina and I have a game we play when there's a big snowdrift available, I call her and say “Tina, wanna jump in?”  Then she runs to me, I pick her up, and with a “One, Two, THREE!” I lob her gently into the snowbank.

She gets a real kick out of it.

As you can see this snow is so deep and fluffy, Tina practically disappeared on landing.  She had a blast!
