My friend James who wites the blog Aces Full of Links has started this little meme specifically for bloggers. What is your top referrer word from search engines? Hmm…
My top referrals are direct links, either out of message postings I've made or from assholes people stealing my bandwidth by hotlinking my images directly. I once posted a few humorous photoshop pictures on Fark, which generated something on the order of 12,000 hits in a few hours. Needless to say, I very quickly deleted THOSE pictures!
But from search engines? Well for the year in total, my top referrer word/phrase would be:
banana phone
Like James, the most popular article on my blog is in reference to somebody else's humorous work that I had nothing to do with. I'm a coat tail rider. ![]()
Of course, I have to estimate that because blogharbor doesn't actually give me a lot of options in how I review my referrals… I'd LOVE to just be able to get a dump of the raw data. I can sort of figure out what my top search referral phrase from each month is and then go from there.
Here's how 2004 breaks down for me:
| DEC | “Kelly Wolf” |
| NOV | “give bush a brain” |
| OCT | “operation snowbird” |
| SEP | “banana phone” |
| AUG | “names people give their cars” |
| JUL | “eclipse wireless review” |
| JUN | “banana phone” |
| MAY | “banana phone” |
| APR | “no-brainer. Of course it is a violation of international law” |
| MAR | “application of Cunningham chain” |
Unbecoming Levity was born in March of 2004, so there are no data for earlier months.
