Gawd, I am sick as a dog. My whole torso aches from all the coughing. I'm really glad that I had some time off over the holidays, but having been sick the whole time has sucked majorly.
On the upside Tussin CF and Tussin DM cough syrups seems to help considerably. They taste nasty of course, but they work… that coupled with sucking on the albuterol inhaler a couple times a day. I'm still coughing a lot just the same, but I'm sure it would be worse without the medicine.
Another thing that has helped? Hot soup. I love soup when I'm sick. Boston Market makes great chicken noodle, D'Angelo makes decent chicken noodle too. Al Dente's over at the Mall at Whitney Fields makes delicious chicken and rice soup.
Another thing that helps is hot herbal tea. My favorite is Celestial Seasonings Harvest Spice tea. Unfortunately, they've discontinued that product. They must have found out I like that. Fortunately they still make Sleepytime, which is my second favorite tea.
Tomorrow I have to go back to work. I'm on a new project now with a very tight timeline (at least in the forseable future), so I can't really afford to take off a day or two to recuperate fully. I like the project and all, but let's just say I'm not at all looking forward to going back to work considering how I feel.
Ah well, that's life.
Have you seen a doctor? Maybe all that coughing is something more than a cold and asthma. It doesn't sound good.
Chicken soup is very easy to cook, Chuck. You should learn how to cook it. I just had some that I had made and frozen a month ago. When you make it yourself you can put in exactly the kind of chicken, pasta (or rice), and veggies that you like, and then pour it into ziplock baggies and freeze it for when you want a quick, hot meal, or when you're sick, and you don't have to go anywhere to get it.
Thanks for your concern Maggie. Nah, not yet, I feel like I am on the uptick. Couple more days I should have it licked. If I haven't improved by Thursday I'll definitely be calling on my doctor.
I had the Coughing Sickness last month. It lasted nearly three weeks. Then I got maybe five days off (over Christmas, fortunately), then caught a head cold to ruin my New Year's.
It's getting better, but I still feel like I could easily go to sleep just by putting my head down on my desk. Considering the noise level in my workplace, that's bad.

More snow expected, and 7 inches on my driveway right now. Nothing makes a cold more enjoyable than clearing 800 to 1000 cubic feet of snow. Yayyyyyy.
We got mostly wet snow, but they still cancelled school. No real accumulation. I don't know what news they were watching.
Fitchburg must be snow-cursed. Other people I talked to just north of here got no snow. It must be your elevation!
