January Thaw?

Anybody noticed a slight uptick in temperatures over the last couple days?  Usually, where I live, the January Thaw comes around January 17… it feels like it's come a few days early this year.  I'm not looking forward to the inevitable end of the thaw when it gets very cold again!  I've always wondered what causes the January thaw… apparently so do meteorologists–at present the January thaw remains unexplained.  So if there are any aspiring young meteorologists out there… here's a mystery just waiting to be solved!

  1. Oh, that's bizarre. I didn't know it was a phenomenon, I just thought it was nice. It's been in the 50's down here by the watah.

  2. Whatever it is, it's NOT global warming! And so what if the Earth is getting warmer. There is an intelligent designer behind it, so he is making it warmer for a reason. Maybe there are too many gay polar bears.

  3. I get real tired of “so much for global warming” whenever we have a cold day. I'm continually pointing out to people that the polar ice caps melting are going to make some places colder.
