So Lynnea was feeding the cats tonite, and was pouring water into one of their bowls. In so doing she suddenly noticed bits of food floating in the bowl. I said “Lynnea, typically we put dry food in that bowl and water in the other one.” She got a sheepish grin on and said “aw snap!” ![]()
That is apparently from “That's so Raven” — I mean, it's an expression that pretty much everybody uses, but that's probably where she heard it. My kids say it to, so I asked them where it came from.
The one I'm really sick of is “sweet.” I thought it was a ten-year-old girl phrase, as in “Miss Mattos has a sweet ride,” (ugh, materialistic little things), but all of my students use it to. I'm really, really sick of it, to the point where I don't want to give them good news.
“The project is due next week instead of Thursday.”
“Sweet.”
“Forget it, it's due now. No exceptions.”
