Awaiting the Moon

There's little sadder than a book gone to waste… okay perhaps there are many things sadder, but I have a soft spot for books.  I found this poor creature laying on the road with its pages fluttering in the wind while I was out today taking my first walk of spring.

For some reason it reminded me of an injured moth.  I bent close to check the title–Awaiting the Moon.  I thought that quite a coincidence, an injured moth awaiting the moon.  I imagined it resuscitated by moonlight into a brilliant white creature and winging away to some distant place.  That struck me as a pleasant image.

Of course the sad truth is that it's going to end up in a trashbarrel when the landscapers do spring cleaning on the office park.

It turns out that Awaiting the Moon by Donna Lea Simpson is a trashy romance novel with a supernatural bent set in the late 1700's and involving werewolves.  Freeky!  Well I hope somebody got some joy out of it.

Another sign of spring… fresh buds appearing on plants.  These are rhododendrons or azaleas or something like that.  I'm just basking in the promise of fresh blossoms to come… what they actually are doesn't matter as much to me.
